Loteria Grill, known by many as the best Mexican food this side of Santa Barbara’s La Super Rica (the late Julia Child’s favorite), and no less, the best Mexican food in Los Angeles, is coming to Studio City. When Jimmy Shaw opened the original Loteria Grill in the Farmers Market on Third Street in Los Angeles seven years ago, people flocked to the little stand for its authentic take on regional cuisine. Last summer, Shaw opened Loteria Grill in Hollywood to rave reviews. And this summer, he begins construction inside the old Gaucho Grill location at Ventura Blvd and Laurel Canyon. Until you’ve tried the chicharron de queso (cheese that’s fried and then shaped like a giant hat), you haven’t lived. Seriously. Stay tuned. www.loteriagrill.com
