Who doesn’t want a bargain these days? Even if you don’t need one, just think about that little bit of satisfaction you feel when you get one!
Well, here’s your chance to feel it in a big way.
The first annual Frugal Fe$tival will be smack dab in the middle of the San Fernando Valley at Woodley Park in Van Nuys this Sunday, July 26 from 1-4 pm.
In keeping with the theme, it’s the best bargain in town because everything is FREE – free parking, free admission, free refreshments, free activities, free recipes, free professional advice and a free raffle.
Bring items to trade at the “really free swap meet,” coupons for a free coupon exchange and even recycle old electronics. The first 50 guests to arrive get free Fe$tival T-shirts!
The Frugal Fe$tival is the brainchild of Julia Scott, founder of BargainBabe.com and BargainBabeLA.com.
“Even in a recession there is a stigma against making frugal choices, whether it is where we buy our clothes, the restaurants we eat at, or where we go on vacation,” says Scott, “I’m tired of that. It’s time to come out of the closet and embrace frugality.”
Scott, who describes herself as “a cheapskate by nature and a journalist by training,” was a reporter, columnist and blogger at the LA Daily News before launching her two websites.
“The Frugal Fe$tival evolved out of my desire to reward my readers and celebrate with them the six-month anniversary of BargainBabe.com and the launch of BargainBabeLA.com,” says Scott. “I thought a big, free party would be the best way to do that.”

Be one of the first 50 guests and receive a Bargainbabe.com t-shirt free. Now, that's styling the frugal way!
Scott is collaborating on the event with a number of generous sponsors, including Savings.com, Goldstar, the 99 Cents Only Stores, and Wise Bread. Plus, there are a number of other partners including Lucky You Resale, Planet Green, Starbucks, The Scavenging Blog, and Christiane Jory, author of the 99 Cents Only Stores Cookbook.
Raffle prizes include Frugal Fe$tival T-shirts, copies of The Scavengers’ Manifesto and the 99 Cent Only Stores Cookbook, two $20 Gelsons gift cards, two $25 gift certificates to Goldstar.com, a Toshiba laptop, and a $100 cash prize.
“Being frugal is the new black,” says Scott.”It’s time to do more than admit to your friends you shop the clearance rack at Target, use coupons and keep a monthly budget. Let’s celebrate being frugal!”
