This Weekend: Sherman Oaks Street Fair and the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival

The 818 is alive this weekend with two of its biggest events in Sherman Oaks and Calabasas.

The 19th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair is a destination for music, food and fun this Sunday, October 18 from 10am to 6pm and admission is free. With more than one-half mile of the Boulevard between Van Nuys Blvd. and Kester Avenue transformed into a pedestrian mall, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy two stages of live entertainment, sample food from around the world, participate in games, and browse and purchase products from over 100 commercial and arts and crafts vendors. Song and dance presentations by local groups will include: Kicks Martial Arts, Dixie Canyon Elementary, L.A. Hip Kids, Pacoima Middle School Dancers, Charter High School of the Arts (C.H.A.M.P.S.), Millikan Middle School, Pacoima Singers, and The Buckley School Performing Arts Department. At the west end of the street, there will be expanded car show, a beer garden with wine tasting, and other attractions including a Kiddie Corral for small children. The Street Fair is hosted by the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Sherman Oaks Hospital. The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival,  which first made its mark in 1972, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 17th and 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Juan Bautista De Anza Park, 3701 Lost Hills Road, Calabasas. Admission and parking are FREE; shuttle service is available.

The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival will include: Low cost Inflatable Rides & Free Carnival Games Craft Marketplace & Live Bands Contests: Pumpkin Pie Eating, Pumpkin Seed Spitting, Mummy Wrap Ferris Wheel & Train Ride & Car Show

Reptiles & Nature Shows & Youth Carnival Games Business District & Fun Zone Pumpkin Foods & Pumpkin Beer & Pumpkin Patch Pumpkin Pavilion housing a talented pumpkin carver; as well as pumpkin goodies for purchase

The event offers families with children of all ages an opportunity to enjoy an affordable and fun-filled experience.
