The Women’s Care Cottage in North Hollywood should be celebrating its 25th anniversary, however instead they may be shutting their doors on December 15.  They have had a dramatic drop in funding  and need $300,000-$500,000 in order to remain open. According to sources, they are in deficit of $400 a day. One of the children in danger of being displaced is a 5 year old cancer patient.

Founded in 1984, the non-profit organization has helped more than 50,000 homeless women and children throughout the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles.  The number of women and children the shelter has served doubled to nearly 4000 this year alone.

Their programs  include the Cottage (a 90 day emergency shelter in the form of a 2 -story house), resource center, career guidance, wellness program and transitional housing, have been lifelines to getting women back on their feet.

They are looking for all types of donations.  For more information,

6180 Laurel Canyon Blvd Suite 375, North Hollywood, CA 91606
