There’s plenty o’ pubs to get your green on this Wednesday for St. Patrick’s Day.  Here’s some key places that stretch across the San Fernando Valley.  Remember — if you intend to imbibe on one too many pints — cab it, hire a car service, designate a sober driver, or call a friend.

The Fox and the Hounds — Studio City

This is a favorite place for British ex-pats mixed with locals. Traditional pub fare includes fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, banger’s and mash and a special for St. Patrick’s Day — Corned Beef and Cabbage. Live music by the King Mixers starting at about 9 pm. Breakfast is also served all day here, including the English version of the Irish breakfast called The Full Monty. Sixteen beers on tap and more in bottles and cans. Chow down on Corned Beef & Cabbage , Irish Stew and Sandwiches. Guiness, Smithwicks and more are on tap. This pub is a fave with Irish ex-pats and there’s a real Irishman manning the bar. There’s also Off-Kilt in Sherman Oaks (Moorpark and Woodman) and Maeve’s Residuals in Studio City (in a strip mall at Vineland and Ventura – actually just across a parking lot from the Fox and Hounds!). Maeve’s is one of my favorite divey Irish bars ever – super friendly, big comfy couches, darts, the works.
