Massage — can anyone say that word without smiling at the same time?

With prices varying from $100-$185 an hour, getting a massage is a luxury  many wish they could have all the time. Sure there are those Thai places with $45 prices, but that is still pricey when you add a tip. However, over the past year, foot massage  centers have been popping up all over the city. I’ve tried many, but finally found the only one which makes the grade —  Foot Inspiration in Sherman Oaks.

At $25 an hour, it’s affordable and so easy because you don’t even have to take off your clothes. And it’s not just a foot massage, they’ve got your body covered.

The waiting area — a no talking zone...or whisper quietly if you must.

Entering off the parking lot of this strip mall, you walk into a dark, soothing environment, full of clean smells, candles and soft peaceful music.  You will then be escorted to one of eight comfy recliner chairs that fold into a massage table. They use reflexology  and start with your feet first,  soaking them in a wood tub with hot water that is lined with a plastic bag for sanitary reasons. While your feet soak,  your head, neck and arms are massaged. Then, your feet are taken out of the tub and massaged for about 30 minutes.  You will quietly be asked to turn  over on your stomach for a back, leg and head massage.

All the massage therapists are Chinese and certified in reflexology.  If you have injuries of any kind, let them know and they will accommodate you. My favorite therapist is Yen, but I have tried almost all of them and have never been disappointed. It is a wonderfully soothing experience. Personally, I can’t think of a better way to spend 25 dollars for an hour.

And it’s also great for gift giving.  Or buy five massages and get one free.  Spread the good feeling.
