EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS: Reader Martha Bissell brought this to our attention. The 99 Cent Only Stores have set up “Earthquake Preparedness Headquarters” at its locations packed with all kinds of necessities for emergencies — at the .99 cent price point, of course. Martha reported, “After Sunday’s rumbler, I thought I should check it out. The highlight, for me, was a stack of little Johnson and Johnson hard-shelled 12 piece first aid kits, perfect sized for kids’ backpacks or my purse. I keep a proper first aid kit in the trunk, but it’s great to have something handy for the little ‘owies.’ The mini kit sells for $4.80 on Amazon and I was able to get enough for everyone for .99 each. There are small rolls of decent duct tape, as well as little pump bottles of hand sanitizer. The big ones are too big for the individual kits, but perfect for home, office and school.”
