Studio City resident, UCLA student and 2009 Notre Dame High School graduate, Brooks Paul, died on March 26, 2010, twelve days shy of what would have been his 19th birthday,  after nearly a four year battle with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer).   A Musical Celebration of Brooks’  life will be held at  Notre Dame High School on Sunday, April 25 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow in the courtyard.

Following is Brooks Paul’s obituary reprinted from the Los Angeles Times, April 18, 2010:

April 8, 1991- March 26, 2010

One in a trillion, ‘Boo’ burst into this world full of joy, curiosity and unconditional love for all. Musically talented, funny and smart, Brooks’ gentle spirit attracted so many wonderful teens into our home, diverse, loving kids who will go on to fulfill Brooks’ dream of making the world a better place. Interested in medicine, he was overjoyed when he got accepted to UCLA.

Brooks Paul loved music. He was in the Notre Dame High School Marching Band, as well as UCLA's nationally acclaimed choral group, the Scattertones. Photo taken in 2009.

Within a month however, the bone cancer that took his leg in 2006 returned. His brother Jon Connor Paul, mother Pamela Welky Paul, father Keith and wife Cathy (Lampl) Paul adored him so. Thank you to everyone who has honored Brooks by helping his family in so many different ways.

You have taught us the meaning of ‘friend’. Rock on, sweet boy of mine…
