REVIVAL: The Pajama Game— April 22, 23, 24
The performing arts students at CHAMPS Charter High School of the Arts will present The Pajama Game, the 1954 Tony Award-winning musical comedy with a book by George Abbott and Richard Bissell and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. Directed by Otis Sallid (co-conceiver, Smokey Joe’s Cafe), choreographed by Broadway veteran Kyme Sallid (Honky Tonk Nights, Black and Blue, Oh Kay!), and sponsored by Connie Sellecca and John Tesh, four performances take place at the Campus Theater in Van Nuys April 22 through 24.
Performances of The Pajama Game take place on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 pm; Friday, April 23 at 7:30 pm; and Saturday, April 23 at 2:30 & 7:30 pm. General admission is $15.00. Radio Station at CHAMPS Charter
Champs Performing Arts Charter High School, in Van Nuys, will broadcast during IBS Spring Palooza, Friday April 23 from 11am to 1pm. Shenkar, the musical voice of NBC’s hit TV show “Heroes,” will guest at the event. Shenkar, a world-renowned vocalist and double-violinist, will also be performing with Peter Gabriel at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday May 7th.
Simulcast on IBS stations across the nation, the network will include 22 hours of original programming broadcast throughout the weekend focusing on student stations and terrific local bands to raise money for worthy charities. “SPRINGPALOOZA” which features a continuous flow of radio programming from college radio stations around the world.
Arts and Entertainment Radio at Champs Charter High school caters to a worldwide audience online at www.aertalk.com or on iTunes under the College and University tab. AER hosts several special events and concerts throughout the year and conducts a variety of celebrity interviews. AER, in its first year of broadcasting, has already been described as “America’s most innovative High School Radio station” by George Capalbo of Backbone Radio Networks.
John Tesh and Connie Selleca, patrons of the station, commenting on the growth of AER, are quoted as saying, “You’ve taken this and just exploded it!”

If It Weren’t For the Arts… – An Evening of Music, Song, and Dance hosted by six-time Emmy-winning radio and television personality and Grammy-nominated musician, John Tesh, who will also perform compositions from several of his acclaimed albums. He will be joined by comedian Dan Nainan (Last Comic Standing, Saturday Night Live, 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver) and performing arts students from CHAMPS Charter High School of the Arts-Multimedia and Performing.
