What if I told you that there is a  dive bar with free wi-fi serving a partial vegan menu with the world’s most addictive potato chips, insanely good sweet potato fries, delicious sausages and some of the best California craft beer and wine on tap you’ll find anywhere… and it’s in Burbank? Well, I’m telling you, it is. Tony’s Darts Away is  the place and it just happens to be Los Angeles’ first “bottle-less” bar.

New owner Tony Yanow took over the old Tony’s,  a known fixture on Magnolia Blvd (but the kind of place you might be intimidated to venture in). No more, Yanow has kept the dive feel, but subtly loaded it with a personality overhaul, taking his life long love of beer and turning the once skanky bar into a local Cheers with a vegan twist — and with a pub grub menu for carnivores as well. Yanow’s personal beer library fills the bookshelves in this space with the typical long bar, pool table, games and TVs. Bring your kids until early evening. Bring your dog and there’s dog beds and water bowls outside.

Over 30 different types of California craft beer, plus three wines and sodas — all on tap.

The menu items come predominately from California and are centered around a selection of artisan sausages both vegan and non-vegan. While the chicken, beef and pork sausages are locally sourced, the vegan are imported from Oregon and Washington.  Top your dog off with a variety of sides.  Fresh salads with seasonal ingredients are also a must try with vegetables locally sourced.

As for the beer and wine, it’s all locally sourced from California with a fully integrated beer tap system.  Tony’s offers more than 30 California craft beers that are constantly changing and average $3.50 to $6.  Tony takes his beer really seriously and even provides a style guide explaining his inventory. Wine is made and kegged by Kris Curran, an award-winning winemaker in Santa Barbara. Choose from white, red or rose that are served in quart liter ($8) or full litter bottles ($32) with small glasses.

Catch Tony if you can —he’s a walking/talking encyclopedia of beer.  If passion could run through a tap, Tony’s has got it.  Burbank’s looking like its got a new lease on ‘cool.’

There's a choice of three salads all with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. (beet and goat cheese salad above).

Hang out, eat, drink, play games, kids and dogs (outside) welcome.

Sounds great. Will have to try it, if just for the sweet potato fries.

Sounds good. I want to check it out.

Sweet fries have some sort of sweet/smoky glaze which is outrageous! & compliment all of the 3 IPA’s I tried. So good!
