Community Festivals are in the east and west valley, blow dry and color deal in Calabasas,  walk for Habitat for Humanity in the mid-valley, Beer Fest and Taste of Italy are celebrated downtown, puppets at the library and a Eco Family Day and Film Festival are  at UCLA.

5K WALK FOR HABITAT: Join Dancing with Starsʼ Mark Ballas, MC Trevor Donovan (90210), The Laker Girls plus other stars from Modern Family, Glee, The Young & the Restless, 90210, Disney’s Ant Farm, Shake It Up and Big Time Rush, True Jackson VP, Friday Night Lights, Ramona & Beezus and more on Saturday October 16 from 8:30am-12:30 pm and help raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. Meet at the The Pacoima Plaza for a 5K round-trip walk to the Habitat for Humanity Pacoima site and then walk back to the Plaza for a celebration with BBQ picnic, live entertainment, and mingling with celebrities. CALABASAS PUMPKIN FESTIVAL:  The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival is on Oct. 16 and 17 from 10am-5pm. Featuring carnival games, arts & crafts, live entertainment, delicious food and beverages, derby races, pumpkin pie eating contests and a fun zone with inflatable rides. No more ride passes and  ticket lines! Rides and games are now included with one low cost admission ticket. $5 Admission at gate. Kids under 2 FREE. TASTE OF ITALY: Downtown Little Italy is the destination for Taste of Italy on October 16 from 4-9pm benefiting the Italian American Museum. It’s a wine and food lover’s event featuring Pane e Vino, Nonna of Italy, San Antonio Winery, Ca’ Del Sole, Eatalian Cafe and Gelato, as well as over a dozzen wineries. 20th ANNUAL SHERMAN OAKS STREET FAIR: Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks will once again ring with the sounds of music and fun as the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce presents the 20th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair, “Showbiz in Sherman Oaks,” on Sunday, October 17 from 10am-6pm. There will be a special awards ceremony on the Community Stage at 1pm honoring actress and Sherman Oaks business owner Melissa Joan Hart (Sweetharts). Sample food from around the world, participate in games, and purchase items from a wide variety of vendors. Schools from all over Los Angeles will also be performing on the Community Stage: Dixie Canyon Elementary, Pacoima Singers, Charter High School Arts & Media (CHAMPS), and The Buckley School Performing Arts Department.

CELEBRATE BEER WEEK: The 2nd Annual LA Beer Week Beer Festival will take place at Historic Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, October 17th, from Noon-4pm. The Festival will feature over 70 local, regional, national, and international Craft and Artisan breweries, pouring a wide array of their beers, including some rare beers, and a special few available only for LA Beer Week. Admission is $40 with unlimited 4oz tastings.

ECO FAMILY DAY AT THE BEL AIR FILM FESTIVAL: It’s the Third Annual Bel-Air Film Festival (BAFF) at UCLA James Bridge Theatre this weekend.  On Sunday, October 17, there is a special Eco-Family Day hosted by Ladybug Jane who will walk the green carpet in the garden. Ladybug Jane is a multi-media eco-friendly character teaches kids about making responsible choices in their everyday lives. The Ladybug Jane animated short film – “Red Lips Inspires Ladybug Tips” (directed by Rusty Mills “Pinky and the Brain”) will screen promptly at 11:30am (along with two other animated short films). Each child will receive a special gift and photo (online accessible) of themselves with this charismatic ladybug. This FREE Eco Family Day will be filled with engaging and inspiring activities for the whole family – kids yoga, a young people (and mommy) spa area, worm composting and eco-friendly face painting, along with a few other surprise garden creatures and healthy tasty treats. The Bel-Air Film Festival is an independent international film festival dedicated to inspiring filmmakers and providing them with the resources needed to further their knowledge.

PEE WEE’S PUPPETS: The Swazzle puppeteers, best known for Pee Wee’s Playhouse ,and are bringing their show the one and only River Otter Circus to the Valley Plaza Library on Saturday, October 16 at 3 pm. It’s FREE Valley Plaza Branch Library, 12311 Vanowen Street, North Hollywood.
