BERMAN CERAMIC ARTS SALE: L.A.’s longest running arts studio is having its annual holiday sale on November 20 and 21, showcasing works by 18 local potters an sculptors. Holiday in the Park, Burbank

HOLIDAY IN THE PARK: Burbank’s Magnolia Park Partnership kicks off the season with Holiday in the Park,  one of the biggest neighborhood celebrations in the region on Friday, November 19 from 5:30 to 9:30 P.M. Encompassing hundreds of boutiques and eateries and spanning more than 40 blocks, Holiday in the Park attracts thousands of revelers annually. Experience a night of merriment with tons of in-store events, street caroling, gifts and prizes. New this year is the Magical Christmas Caroling Truck, a sixty-two foot tractor-trailer adorned with Christmas scenes and thousands of sparkling lights. Over 200 singers and dancers, will serenade  with Christmas carols. There will be continuous live entertainment on the main stage (at Kenmore and Magnolia), free photos with Santa (at Burbank Community Federal Credit Union, 3000 W Magnolia) an ice sculptor, roving choirs, musicians, refreshments, lots of fun for kids, demonstrations and lip-smacking treats. The celebration extends from Buena Vista to the Burbank city limits on Magnolia Boulevard and from Clark to Chandler on Hollywood Way. LA YOUTH ORCHESTRA: The LA Youth Orchestra, conducted by Russell Steinberg, will perform two concerts on November 21 and 22. The concerts will feature famed actor Theodore Bikel and LA Philharmonic violinist Mitchell Newman, who will perform Steinberg’s newly orchestrated Missing Violin Tango from his Daniel Pearl tribute. The entire program is under two hours and also features Mozart’s overture to The Magic Flute, Mendelssohn’s overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream plus arrangements of: Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Berlioz’ Hungarian March,Chopin’s Grande Valse, Tchaikovsky’s overture to Romeo and Juliet. HOLIDAYS IN HOLLYWOOD: Hollywood and Highland celebrates on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. It’s a  FREE evening of musical entertainment, celebrity guests, an appearance by Santa Claus, and the lighting of the Hollywood Christmas Tree all at Hollywood & Highland Center. Musical performances by Drake Bell, Cirque du Soleil performers, Taylor Hicks, Dave Koz, Kimberley Locke, the Los Angeles Gospel Choir, Kyle & Chris Massey, Mitchel Musso, Player (w-Ronn Moss), Devon Werkheiser, and Ace Young. 100 foot Christmas Tree at The Grove

THE GROVE:  It’s the annual “Hollywood Christmas Celebration at The Grove,” on Sunday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m.  The festive evening, free and open to the public, will be hosted by EXTRA’S Mario Lopez. Saturday Night Live legend Dan Aykroyd will light the 100-foot Christmas tree with its 10,000 lights and 15,000 ornaments. The season’s first “snowfall” and a mesmerizing fireworks display will conclude the celebration. Live performances will include Grammy Award nominated trio Wilson Phillips, David Archuleta, runner-up on Season 7 of American Idol, songwriter and actor Jesse McCartney, Dave Koz and Friends, internet sensation Charice, singer and guitarist Michael Grimm from Season 5 of America’s Got Talent. The Starlight Children’s Foundation will collect donations of new, unwrapped, latex-free toys for distribution to children of all ages who may be spending the holidays in the hospital.

    I’m glad to see Underground Suppers are still going on. I hosted 3 “Secret Suppers” between 2008 – 2009 with a chef I met at the Studio City Farmers Market. They were all memorable meals with great conversations.
