There’s an enormous white big top in Burbank and it’s not the circus, but Cavalia — the extravagant world wide traveling show described as a”magical encounter between human and horse.”

Opening tomorrow, January 19, this grand scale production involves over 90 performers, including 49 magnificent horses of 11 breeds from all over the world, riders, aerialists, acrobats and dancers, as well as musicians and a vocalist. The tone of the show, embraced by the entire company, is one of respect, kindness, patience, and trust. It is this combination that sets the stage for the largest touring Big Top in the world. Constantly evolving, Cavalia has increased in scope and size since it last played to sold-out Los Angeles houses in 2006.

The 110-foot tall Cavalia White Big Top, spans more than 26,000 square feet, to accommodate a 160-foot wide stage created to allow the horses to freely express themselves on stage. The seating has been designed so the audience has a close connection to the action.

With an expertise in multimedia, the creative forces behind Cavalia use cutting-edge technology to create a larger-than-life fairytale and propel the equestrian arts into the 21st century. Horses cavort with artists before a constantly changing background created by large panoramic projections and visual effects. Spectators are transported to dream-like virtual settings.

To date, Cavalia has been seen by more than 2.5 million people worldwide. Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec (Canada), Cavalia is the brainchild of Normand Latourelle, who was one of the co-founders of Cirque Du Soleil, and has become renown for producing popular events throughout the world. Cavalia has traveled throughout Europe including multiple cities in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and North America, including New Jersey, Florida, Arizona, California, Georgia, North Carolina and Washington DC.

“Horses have enormous presence on stage. Cavalia is a result of a 10-year quest to find a dramatic way to incorporate the power of horses and their mysterious beauty into a captivating multi-media experience,” said Mr. Latourelle. “My passion in life is to make people dream. Cavalia honors the mystique of horses, their ability to connect uniquely with human beings and their extraordinary achievements across our history.”
