My big fave, Georgio’s Cucina in Studio City, has a brand new website featuring their new chef, Jeffrey Nimer.  Check it for daily specials. Not to be missed is the special Sunday Supper—a three course meal is $15. Wine is $6 a glass and $14 a bottle. The restaurant is also prepping to open for lunch and Sunday Brunch in a couple weeks. There’s a whole lot going on at the Daily Grill these days.  They’re getting into the big burger biz by adding a grinder in each location’s kitchens to freshly grind the meat twice daily.  Currently there are three specialty 1/2 pound hand formed angus burgers offered: the Classic Cheeseburger, Wild Mushroom Burger and Pepper Bacon Burger for $10.95-$12.95, including fries.  There is also a new meat loaf recipe  and a full gluten-free menu.

Hugo’s Burrito Wednesdays is from 7 p.m.- 10 p.m. Just say the secret word “Funny Boy” before you order for half off burritos (limit 5). Studio City, 4749 Coldwater Canyon Ave. Studio City,  3300 Glendale Blvd. Atwater Village.

Specialties, the San Francisco based cafe and bakery chain that promises “made from scratch” food and techno savvy ordering, is opening in Glendale this week. There’s online ordering, a special iPad ordering system and a Warm Cookie Radar to update you when fresh cookies are out of the oven.

Umami Burger just debuted its latest beef creation available at all locations through April.  It’s called “The Ruskie” and is comprised of a beef patty with melted cabbage, red beet cheese and mustard caviar.

Morton’s The Steakhouse Burbank is hosting “Puff on the Patio”— an outdoor, four course cigar and wine dinner on Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 pm. Guests will enjoy a four course dinner paired with wines and cigars. $135 per person.  3400 West Olive Avenue, Burbank. Il Tiramisu is having a four course wine pairing dinner on April 7 featuring Honig Vineyard and Winery. The meal includes Sweet potato, ricotta cheese and lemon lasagna; Lake superior whitefish, steamed, mushroom and herb consumme; Cabernet sauvignon braised prime beef short ribs,

Closed eateries: Tour Eiffel in Calabasas after four  months. Cafe Sorrento in Encino after two months.
