If you like real wine tasting, but can’t afford either the time or the expense for a getaway to wine country, stay close in the 818 and check out the D’Argenzio Winery Enoteca Tasting Room in Burbank — the outpost for its Santa Rosa winery.

In addition to regular wine tasting hours (**see below),  through May 15, they are having a very special event — the 2nd annual Barrel Tasting where you can taste wine straight from the barrel.  Six barrels of new releases have been shipped directly from their winery in Sonoma County’s Santa Rosa.

Try out a ’07 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley, ’07 Pinot Noir Russian River, Valley Old Cheery Block, ’07 Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley,’08 Super Tuscan Blend (Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah), ’07 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County and 08 D’Amarone Blend, Old World Style.

D’Argenzio Winery is an award-winning family winery that’s spanned three generations.  The winemaker is Raymond D’Argenzio. Their Sonoma grown grapes are aged 18 to 24 months in new French Oak and American Oak barrels at the Santa Rosa winery. The Burbank Enoteca wine tasting room is located on the property that was originally the D’Argenzio home and where Raymond, his twin brother Richard, and family grew up. The home was converted into their cabinet business many years ago. Al, their father, and Richard, both work at the cabinet business which is now located in the back warehouse behind the wine tasting room.

Prices are $20 per guest. Group rates available and by appointment. The wine flight includes six barreled wines and four previous vintage wines(that’s 10 wines!). Light appetizers are also included. As an added bonus, you’ll also receive 20 percent off any future releases purchased, plus an invitation to the Pick up Party
Wine in Barrels scheduled to be bottled during the late summer.

**During regular hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, they offer wine tasting, wine by the glass, and small appetizers. Reservations are needed Sunday through Wednesday for special times.
