Bea Bea’s is a breakfast gem tucked away in a strip mall off Pass Ave and the 134 freeway right next to Jenny Craig’s which is ironic since they have some of the most indulgent menu choices I have ever seen.

Although there are healthy choices (including vegan and gluten free), who can resist a waffle called Going Bananas — bananas, oreo-cookie and peanut butter topped with whipped cream and powdered sugar?  All I could think of was — do I go for the waffle and then sign up for Jenny Craig or do I go for the Pooch’s Sunrise which gives you the choice of pancakes, waffles, french toast or crepes served with two eggs any style and four pieces of bacon ($11.95) ?

Another choice is AC’s Huevos Tomatillo — three eggs over easy on crispy corn tortillas topped with chicken breast, tomatillo sauce, cheddar, mozzarella cheese and avocado served with beans ($12.95).  Breakfast prices might seem pricey but the food is delicious and portions are big enough for two people to share if money is an issue.

Pooch's Sunrise gives you the choice of pancakes, waffles, french toast or crepes served with two eggs any style and four pieces of bacon.

The menu is extensive but is easy to navigate.  Choose from pancakes , french toast, waffles, crepes and more. If breakfast isn’t your thing, there is a whole slew of lunch items from salads to wraps to burgers. The Papa Sam Special is a spicy marinated beef patty, mushroom and jack cheese on a white bun ($10.95).  The House Spinach Salad is grilled chicken breast, strawberries, caramelized walnuts and crumbled blue cheese ($12.95). Croque Madame is ham and cheese topped with bechamel sauce and fried eggs ($11.50)

Bea Bea’s is very casual with tables inside and out, as well as a counter that seats about nine people. On a week day around 11 a.m., there were a fair amount of people, but the weekends are packed so prepare to wait a bit or arrive on the early side.  The best part is there is plenty of self parking and if there is a wait you can walk next door and visit the pet store.

Counter seating plus table seating is inside and out.

At Bea Bea’s, they like to say “breakfast is everything” — and it is —but lunch is good too!

Bea Bea’s 353 North Pass Ave., Burbank 818-846-2327. Open 7 days a week 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
