The Weekend Cocktail: Meyer Lemon Drop Martini

BY GWEN KENNEALLY

I was at a BBQ last weekend and got to climb up my friend’s Meyer Lemon tree and bring home a bag full! Sweeter than a traditional lemon, the Meyers variety is a citrus fruit native to China thought to be a cross between a true lemon and a mandarin orange. If you want a little more lemon flavor use lemon vodka or you can use a ginger infused vodka for a little heat. You can omit the vodka all together and just have a nice refreshing homemade lemonade! Cheers!

Meyers Lemon Drop Martini

4 ounces Vodka

3 ounces Fresh Meyer Lemon Juice or Lemon Juice

2 teaspoons Super Fine Sugar

Lemon Slice

Take a lemon wedge and rim the glass with it and dip in 1/2 of the sugar to frost the edges of the glass. Mix Vodka and remaining lemon juice and sugar in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into 2 martini glasses. Garnish with a lemon slice.
