The Green City Fair: Hosted by Ed Begley Jr., the fair will demonstrate how people can make simple changes to adopt a more environmentally sustainable future. Workshops, local green vendors and sustainability experts, plus great food and music. Pre-register for workshops.   Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. TreePeople, 12601 Mulholland Dr., Beverly Hills.

Colfax Charter Elementary School World Fair: It’s one of the biggest and best school fairs and it’s happening this Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. featuring family-friendly games and attractions, two food courts, a huge silent auction with over 500 items, raffles and musical performances throughout the day. My Gym hosts Toddler Town, an area exclusively for babies and children under 6. An adjacent street will also be closed off for Morella Water Park, an entire block of super soaking fun. Admission and parking are free. All proceeds from the silent auction and games pay for student enrichment and traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.  Saturday, noon to 7 p.m., 11724 Addison St., Valley Village.

Galleria Live: The summer music season is back at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.  The sixth season of “Galleria LIVE!” marks the return of LA’s authentic disco band, Boogie Wonderland. This Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the  Center Plaza will become a “Disco Inferno” featuring some of the most fun music from the disco era.

Eat and Give Back at Carney’s: Get a bite to eat and give back this Sunday, June 5, at Carney’s in Studio City from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 4GOOD is partnering with BookEnds for their Second Annual Book Drive (and craft event). Donate one book and receive a free large drink with the purchase of sandwich and fries. Carney’s will also donate 15 percent of their profits for the day. The two non-profit organizations are working together to help restock the library at New Academy School located in Canoga Park. They are specifically looking for science-related children’s books about animals, oceans, nature, space, etc., but will also accept adult and other children’s books and will place them appropriately.  Also, check out 4GOOD co-founding family — Erika, Peter, Ilan and Izak Athanas on the cover of Scholastic’s Parent & Child® Magazine.   4GOOD is a non-profit organization inspiring families to actively participate in volunteer activities.

Sunday on the Green: The concert series kicks on this Sunday at 4 p.m. for the Playboy Jazz FEstival for community with multi-talented producer, performer, and composer Patrice Rushen along with percussionist Ndugu Chancler and legendary guitarist Doc Powell. In addition, listen for the steamy salsa sounds of Johnny Polanco & LA’s Conjunto Amistad Orchestra, the  dance jams of the Nikhil Korula Band, and the talent-filled Calabasas High School Jazz Band, fresh from jazz contest season. Bring chairs and a picnic or purchase from the food court on the green. Concerts are held at Warner Park, 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd., in Woodland Hills.

11th Annual L.A. River Ride: Join 2,000 riders at L.A.’s premiere bike event. Choose from six different races for all levels and ages. End a great day of cycling fun with an Eco Expo, raffle, live music and an International Food Faire.  Sunday, Gene Autry Museum, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles. Adults, $40-$65. Kids under 12, free. Click here to register.

Concerts on the Lawn: It’s a rockin’ house party and the first event of the season featuring the Ukulele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere. They are not your typical uke group—think “Alt Uke”—it’s 20 ukes (more or less) singing and strumming together. Water and sodas will be available on site, and you’re welcome to bring your own. No alcohol. Bring a lawn chair. Suggested donation for this concert is $10 at the door. For advance confirmations, it’s $7.50 per person via Paypal. To RSVP to the concert and receive the address, e-mail Sherry at Also, check out the Facebook page. Sunday, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Hosted in the backyard of a private home in Noho/Toluca Lake. Address given upon payment and RSVP.
