Boo at the L.A. Zoo: Have a safe and spooky pre-Halloween at Boo at the L.A. Zoo. The Eucalyptus Grove will turn into a giant Pumpkin Patch with jack-o-lantern carving, photo opportunities, and eerie crafts. The Creepy Creature Encounter at the Winnick Family Children’s Zoo will feature trick-or-treating, a chance to get up close with some creepy creatures, and Halloween entertainment. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m- 4 p.m., L.A. Zoo, 5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles (Griffith Park).  This event is free to GLAZA members and with paid Zoo admission.

7th Annual Halloween Carnival and Stuntacular: The 7th Annual Halloween Stuntacular is a free stunt show consisting of 150 professional stunt men and women to help the Make A Wish Foundation. Raffles, prizes and fun! Live show times: 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m.  Saturday, Sunday, noon -10 p.m.; Monday, 3 p.m.-10 p.m. Westfield Fashion Square, Riverside and Woodman, Sherman Oaks parking lot behind Sports Authority.  Free admission; Some attractions and food extra.

Downtown Burbank Howl-Oween Celebration for Kids and Canines: The streets of Downtown Burbank will be haunted by thousands of little monsters in costume and scores of pet dogs decked out to the K-9s on October 31 from 4 – 7 pm.  Kids can trick-or-treat from store-to-store (accompanied by adults!), and dog-owners will be encouraged to bring along their favorite companion for a mutt-see Howl-oween Parade on the AMC Walkway. Downtown Burbank’s Halloween festivities are free and open to the public.  The core area for this outdoor trick-or-treat celebration will be on San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Angeleno. Pet Parade for Dogs in Costume, 6 pm. Pet owners are encouraged to bring along their favorite K-9 dressed in the Halloween spirit for the 2nd Annual Downtown Dog Parade on the AMC Walkway at San Fernando Boulevard and Palm Avenue in Downtown Burbank. Owners are asked to please register on-site by 5:30 P.M. on October 31. All well-behaved pets are welcome. Dogs must wear leashes.

SERVICE CRAWL WITH L.A. WORKS

In celebration of 20 successful years, L.A. Works will coordinate and manage Los Angeles’ first annual service crawl to highlight the importance of service, expose individuals to a variety of issues affecting LA, raise funds to support L.A. Works’ ongoing free volunteer programming, and provide our nonprofit partners with volunteer support. Registration will close on Sunday, November 6th. To be eligible to participate, all team members must pay the registration fee of $20 by 11/06/11.

EVENT DETAILS

WHAT: This exciting and unique form of service is an opportunity for your friends, family and colleagues to get together and support the LA nonprofit community over just a few hours time. Experience a cross-section of nonprofits as your team “Crawls” from site to site solving clues, completing tasks, and competing for some great prizes! Each team will be asked to raise funds to participate (similar to a walk-a-thon-type experience).

WHEN: Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 9:45 AM – 2:00 PM

WHERE: L.A. Works Headquarters @ 570 West Avenue 26, LA 90065 AND within a 5 mile radius of our headquarters

WHO: Team Requirements

Twenty teams will be accepted to participate on a first-come, first-served basis.vThere must be a minimum of three people per team and no more than six people.

Age Requirement: Crawlers must be at least 5 years old.
