Decadent Underground Dinner Club: One of My Daily Find’s most favorite finds ever, Amy’s Culinary Adventures, is throwing another Decadent Underground Dinner Party on Saturday, December 3 at 7 p.m. MDF readers get a $20 discount with promo code: mydailyfind!

Last year's Winter Wonderland theme (seen here during cocktail hour before the plated dinner) was an elegant hit with a flavor of NYC, but this year's L.A. Confidential with seven decadent courses with wine pairing and a cocktail, may just sweep it —and that's saying a lot!

The theme is  L.A. Confidential, a dinner celebrating the city’s Golden Age featuring new twists on the classics from legendary eateries (remember Ciros and The Brown Derby?) — the dinner includes a specialty cocktail mixed just for the occasion, three appetizers and four plated courses—all paired with complimentary wine. The location will be revealed a few days before the event, but here’s a clue — it used to be a 1920s style speakeasy—with plush velvet couches, glittering chandeliers, and secret rooms that won’t tattle on what happened in them. Bring a date, come by yourself, or step out with a group of friends for an evening of indulgence, in a location that won’t be repeated, with a menu you’ll never forget. The price is $140 a person, but for My Daily Find readers through November 20 it is $105.  After November 20, the discount price is $120. Enter promo code: mydailyfind. I can personally guarantee it will be one memorable evening with scrumptious food, drinks and fun! Click here to read more about Amy in this MDF article from 2009.

The Six is open on the Coldwater Curve in Studio City.

The Six Restaurant soft opened Monday on the Coldwater Curve in Studio City in the old Risotto/Spumante location which has been redone with low lights, plus recycled and found materials resulting in a sleek, yet cozy style with a glint of old Hollywood. Since it’s currently in soft opening mode, the full menu won’t be available until the end of the week.  The Six is a departure from the gastropub that seems to be popping up all over and instead is a restaurant (no sports TVs) which features an eclectic, seasonal menu that changes every four months emphasizing the concept of “six” in all categories, serving up the likes of their signature burger, pizza, steak frites, mussels, vanilla roasted beets, mac n’ cheese, braised short rib pot pie, jidori chicken and more. Desserts include The Signature Six Banana Crème Pie. As for libations, there’s signature draughts and specialty brew bottles, carefully sourced wines and signature cocktails. The Six is the second to open by seasoned restaurateurs Will Karges and Jake King. The first is on Pico in West LA.  12650 Ventura Blvd, Studio City (818) 861-2319

The LAB Brewing Co. in Agoura Hills is having a grand opening celebration on Thursday.

Agoura Hills’ newest gastropub – The LAB Brewing Co recently opened their doors and are celebrating the “Official” Grand Opening on Thursday, November 17. To mark the day, all house brews will be half off ($3) all night long. The kitchen is run by Chef Moez Megji who previously opened Fins Seafood Grill and Moz Buddha Lounge. The menu features eclectic fresh American cuisine rather than your typical “bar food”.  Of course, burgers and pizza are on it, but also look for charcuterie platters, ceviche, BBQ duck quesadilla, short ribs, white lasagna and Alaskan cod in a hazelnut sage brown butter sauce. Every food category on the menu has a “lab” theme – Petri dishes, Botanicals, Solids, Liquids, Sphericals, and so on. You get the picture.  Stop by on a weekend for a DJ and live music.

Why are you promoting Chik-Fil-A? — ‘Yes, Chick-fil-A Says, We Explicitly Do Not Like Same-Sex Couples’

Thanks for writing. I actually posted this a few weeks ago and was unaware at that time about Chik-Fil-A’s stance.
The purpose of this column was an announcement as a news item that it opened.
I actually just read the change.org story yesterday. I won’t be eating there…or writing about it again.
