The block between Dixie Canyon and Fulton in Sherman Oaks keeps changing and growing. Dixie Tavern just opened this past weekend, replacing the short lived Oakfire. Co-owner Omar Rahmani describes Dixie Tavern as an “an upscale bar/restaurant/sports bar for those 21 and older that’s comfortable for any occasion…whether watching a game or for date night.” The kitchen is helmed by chef Danny Hung (previously from Osaka Restaurant in Hollywood). Hung has created an eclectic menu of Peruvian, Argentian and Asian fusion specialities. The new owners removed the open kitchen where the wood burning pizza oven stood and replaced it with a VIP room for private parties that can hold 20-25 people. Hours: Monday-Wednesday 4 p.m. – midnight. Thursday and Friday, 4 p.m. -2 a.m., Saturday/Sunday, noon—2 a.m.  Remember, it’s 21 and older only.
