A little more than a year after launching The Federal Bar on Lankershim in North Hollywood—Knitting Factory Entertainment (KFE) has confirmed it will open its second eatery close by. Bow & Truss will open this summer at 11122 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.  Bow & Truss features a tapas-style Latin menu, a dossier of innovative cocktails and a wide variety of craft beer. KFE’s Executive Chef consultant Shad Davis and owner Morgan Margolis have enlisted Stefhanie Meyers as Bow & Truss’ Executive Chef.  Myers worked under John Sedlar at two of his restaurants—Rivera and Playa—and most recently served as Chef de Cuisine at The Federal.  To date,  confirmed dishes include: scallops with saffron polenta, corn/pepper salsa, piquillo sauce; and Seafood Pot with sea bass, mussels, clams, shrimp, lobster claw and potato.

Katsuya Uechi is expanding his presence in the 818 further by bringing The Izaka-ya by Katsu-ya to Sherman Oaks. It’s the third branch of the  West 3rd Street and Manhattan Beach restaurants and joins Uechi’s other restaurants, Katsu-ya in Studio City and Encino.  The 818 eatery will be called  Little Izaka-ya by Katsu-ya, replacing Sushi Fukyo on Sepulveda just south of Ventura.

Charlie’s Pantry, the gourmet marketplace eatery that opened in Studio City just over a year ago, is opening a second location in the Beverly Glen Center  south of Mulholland.  According to owner Charlie Pearson,  the new location will be open in approximately four months.  This location will be more expansive with dinner service and a wine bar.

The Ben and Jerry’s  truck is  on a coast to coast tour  giving away their new Greek frozen yogurt for free.  This is the last week  in Los Angeles.  Just tweet them where you are and they may just show up.  Get all the info here.

This Friday,  May 18th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Woodland Hills Wine Company is having a  Happy Hour with Tyler Winery & Samsara Winery $30/person prepaid.  Woodland Hills Wine Company, 22622 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills.

Over in Calabasas Commons, Toscanova opened a couple weeks ago in the old Mi Piace spot.  The restaurant is owned by the Sciandri family who has opened several restaurants throughout Los Angeles since 1985, including Ago West Hollywood,  Caffé Roma Beverly Hills, Sortino Brentwood, Toscanova Century City  and the Juicy Bird Century City. It’s nice/casual dining with fresh Italian specialties. Sit indoors or out.
