Tasty Tidbits: The Village Opens Plus Special Happenings in the 818

At last…The Village opened in Studio City last week and marked the occasion with  a celebratory party.  Frank Leon, the Studio City restaurateur behind La Loggia and Next Door, replaced his former restaurant, Bokado, with this gastropub with a twist. Inhabiting 2400 square feet,  the eatery/lounge is perfect for a drink, a bite or a meal. The menu features pizza made from an outdoor oven (you can watch it being made!), a mozzarella bar, as well as small plates with Spanish and Mediterranean influences in the $5-$14 range. There is also a good selection of vegan choices.  The bar menu pays homage to classic authors and are  prepared with small batch and artisanal spirits, and premium ingredients, such as all-natural herbs, fruit and produce sourced locally at the Studio City Farmers’ Market.  There’s also an extensive wine and beer list. The decor includes a study with shelves full of vintage books and unique trinkets, as well as Moroccan themed seating area that can be closed off for private parties and events. The 1200 square foot outdoor patio is retractable and includes a fire pit, Edison bulb lighting, and a hidden photo booth.  12345 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, (818) 752-9222

Le Sanglier is having its monthly Wines-Pairing Dinner tomorrow, July 25,  with a Spanish theme.
