Harvest Moon Kitchen and Marketplace soft opened last week on Magnolia just east of Whitsett in Valley Village, but will be having its grand opening this Saturday, November 4 with lots of free samples.  This is the first restaurant for Chris Drapkin who runs Harvest Moon Catering Company.  Open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m., Harvest Moon is a cool, clean fast casual eatery that serves farm to table seasonal dishes.   Order at the counter and your food will be brought to you. Choose to dine al fresco on the sidewalk patio or inside the modern, airy dining room. Breakfast and lunch selections include egg dishes, pancakes, maple bacon, sandwiches, salads and soups.  There’s also a plentiful selection of  baked sweets in the counter case, plus Groundwork coffee and tea from the Art of Tea. Drapkin makes her own jams, syrups and baked goods.  There will also be take home dinners available.  A big plus…there’s free parking in the lot off Whitsett.

Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza and Grill in Studio City has finally received its full bar license and is now serving handcrafted cocktails. Come by for Happy Hour from 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. for half priced tapas, $2 off beer and wine by the glass, signature cocktails and well drinks. It’s available on the patio and bar area only. Signature cocktails run $9 – $10 and include their versions of a martini, mojito, pimms  and more.  Click here for a coupon to get a free pizza when you eat a meal at Sammy’s (not valid at Happy Hour).

For everyone in the West Valley who is wondering about what’s happening at Pedalers Fork in Calabasas, check out this video. This farm-to-table restaurant will cater to cyclers as well as gourmands and coffee drinkers  (they’ve got Ten-Speed Coffee) and is set to open in January.

The Stonehous Winery is now open at The Westlake Inn.

Also in the West Valley — The Stonehaus Winery, which is part of The Westlake Inn, opens today, November 1. Look for a wine tasting room, plus a menu that includes baked goods, paninis, salads, soups, cheese and charcuterie boards. The theme is Tuscan country with cobblestone and dark woods.

The Local Peasant in Sherman Oaks is now serving brunch on Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 p.m. including deep fried french toast, spinach and feta omelette, and chicken sausage and eggs.  Not in a breakfast mood? The full menu is available as well!
