Coffee and Music with “Mike Damone” from Fast Times at Ridgemont High:  Actor/musician, Bob Romanus, recently opened Bob’s Espresso Bar in the NoHo Arts District where he combines his love for coffee with his desire to have a venue that nurtures artists of all kinds. As one half of the musical duo Poppa’s Kitchen, he and his musical partner, Steve Feldman, will officially kick off  the coffee bar’s entertainment line-up this Saturday, February 9 with a free performance. Celebrating Romance in the Animal Kingdom:   The adults-only affair on Saturday, February 9 at  5 p.m. features a lighthearted talk by actress Joleen Lutz, who is also known for her work as an interpretive naturalist of zoology.  Also included is a reception featuring tempting desserts and wines; “animal walk-abouts,” which include chats with keepers and the chance to observe small animals up close; and an optional four-course dinner at Reggie’s Bistro inside the Zoo.  Proceeds from the fourth annual fund-raiser,  sponsored by Whole Foods Market West Hollywood, support the Zoo’s mission of wildlife preservation and conservation at the Zoo and around the world.     Tickets are $30 per person for GLAZA members, with the dinner option an additional $65 per person, and $40 per person for non members, plus an additional $75 per person for the dinner option.  (Adults only, age 21 up.)   Call 323 644-6042 for reservations and information.

Gifts of LoveThe Words and Music of Stephan Schwartz: Support Summit View School’s Musical Theatre program while enjoying a very special musical on Sunday, February 10 at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood (6725 Sunset Blvd. just east of Highland)   Musical Directors Mitch Kaplan and Valerie Taylor, with Scott Olsen on Bass and Denise Fraser on Drums, lead a first-rate line-up of singers from the musical theatre world, performing the songs of Stephen Schwartz from such shows and films as Wicked, Pippin, The Baker’s Wife, Working, Godspell, Children of Eden, Enchanted, The Prince of Egypt and more.
