Ladies Night Out in Burbank: Tonight is the night  (and the last Friday of every month), in the Magnolia Park area of Burbank. Get your friends together from 6 to 9 p.m. for a store-to-store party filled with super sales, wine tasting, art show, food trucks,  book signings, goodies, fashion shows and prize drawings. .Check out the Facebook page to keep up to date on all the activities.  Shop along the blocks of 3100 through 3500 on West Magnolia Blvd.

Salud! National Margarita Day:  Today, Friday, February 22 is the day. Enjoy special margaritas at local favorites — Loteria Grill , Casa Vega and Sol y Luna.

King’s Road Cafe Last Weekend:  Get your final bite  and cup of java at this Studio City restaurant. It closes Sunday, but you can still hop over the hill to the Beverly location.  As previously reported, it will be replaced by Lemonade in mid-May.

Mayoral and City Controller Candidates’ Forum: The Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils (VANC) will hold a Candidates’ Forum for the 2013 Mayoral and City Controller race on Saturday, February 23, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at L.A. Valley College  Monarch Hall, 5800 Fulton Ave., Valley Glen.  The forum will feature leading Mayoral candidates Eric Garcetti, Wendy Greuel, Jan Perry, Kevin James and Emanuel Pleitez, and City Controller candidates Ron Galperin, Dennis Zine and Cary Brazeman. The forum will be moderated by Dan Schnur, director, Unruh Institute of Politics, University of Southern California.  Free and open to the public. City Controller candidates will speak at 9:30 a.m. and Mayoral candidates at 11 a.m.

Temple Judea’s Annual Purim Carnival: It’s a three day event open to the public and taking place  in the large parking lot at 18131 Ventura Blvd. at Lindley  in Tarzana (home of the old Michael’s).   It’s a fair for all ages with thrill rides, midway games kids zoneand  prizes.  There will also be music , a vendor marketplace, kosher BBQ, food stands and  food trucks.  All proceeds go toward school and camp scholarships, directly benefiting the kids of Temple Judea. Friday 2/22: 5 p.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday 2/23: 1 p.m. – 11 p.m., Sunday 2/24: 10 a.m.– 11 p.m. Click here  for more info and advanced discount tickets and wristbands for all three  days.

Summer Camp Fair: Visit with over 30 different summer camps all in one place on Saturday, February 23 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m Traditional day camps, performing art camps, cooking camps, art, sports, dance, and several sleep away camp. 6th Annual Mile of Quarters: This event on Saturday, February 23 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. benefits the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley. It will feature quarters being laid out for one mile (5,280 feet) stretching through Westfield’s Topanga Mall. Dignitaries and elected officials will be present at noon, including Councilmembers Dennis P. Zine and Mitchell Englander; Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield; and Congressman Brad Sherman. Master of Ceremonies is Nancy Cartwright, widely known as the voice of Bart Simpson. Entertainment includes magic shows at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., a deejay, and face painting and other entertainment throughout the day. With one foot of quarters equaling $3.25, if the entire mile is filled, $17,160 will have been raised. Last year’s event filled the entire mile, a total of 63,000 quarters. The event will be located in the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center on the lower level near Sears and the Disney Store; 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park.

Cook with Gwen Kenneally: Join MDF’s very own Gwen Kenneally for an interactive  ”sweet and savory” cooking class at Whole Foods Tarzana this Saturday, February 23 from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.  It’s the perfect date night — or come alone or with friends. Shirley Valentine at the Falcon Theatre  This critically acclaimed Tony-nominated one-woman show stars DeeDee Rescher, who is best known for her comedy work on screen in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and King of Queens. She was last seen on the Falcon stage in Garry Marshall’s own Everybody Say “Cheese!” in 2009  This transformative comedy follows middle-aged Liverpool housewife Shirley Valentine, who is trapped in humdrum domesticity, frequently talking to her kitchen walls just for a bit of conversation. Oscar Party at the Decoy Lounge:  This modern lounge at the Beverly Garland Hotel’s Tula’s Restaurant   will be decorated with black and gold balloons with Oscar statues.  Oscar ballots will be passed out. Those who correctly guess Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress will be placed into a drawing for dinner for two in Tula’s.  Enjoy specialty martinis for $10 each and special food items.
