Learn to dance for free

Dancing Under the Stars: Arthur Murray Sherman Oaks is giving free dance lessons on the first Friday of the month at the Sherman Oaks Galleria in the center courtyard next to PF Changs.  Arthur Murray Sherman Oaks instructors will also put on a dance demonstration.   The fun begins at 8:45 p.m.

Hands for Hope Jazz Serenade: Top jazz artists will perform at the 13th Annual Hands for Hope Serenade. Hands 4 Hope is an after-school and single parent resource program based in the NoHo Arts District serving predominantly low-income minority youth from single parent homes in North Hollywood and the surrounding communities. Hands for Hope is dedicated to broadening horizons, developing talents, promoting self-esteem and instilling life-preparation skills by extending a hand of hope to at-risk youth and single-parent families through safe, quality after school programs.  Friday, March 1, 8 p.m. Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, 5220 Lankershim Blvd. Noho.

Dog Adoption at Belmont Village: Several pet-related businesses alongside event host Belmont Village will offer a day of pet pampering and dog adoption at Belmont Village Senior Living Community in Encino on Saturday, March 2, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Donations will benefit Death Row Dogs Rescue. (Volunteers who rescue homeless pets from the streets and animal shelters who are often moments away from being euthanized. They provide housing, medical care and training to these neglected, abused and often severely injured animals.)  Aromatherapy Mobile Pet Grooming will be providing free mini dog grooming; Four Paws Day Care will have a special offer; Good Dog K9 Training and Services will offer free training consultations; Rufus and Delilah Dog Walking & Pet Sitting will offer a special coupon and a Pet Photo Booth will be set up to take a snapshot with you and your furry friend with a $25 donation. Two of the dogs up for adoption include a sweet three-year-old , seven pound terrier mix named Minnie ,and Violet,  a blue-eyed one-year-old, small Australian Shepherd that needs to be in an active home with an individual or family. Celebrate 10 years all weekend long.

Heal the Bay Santa Monica Pier Aquarium: It’s a 10-year anniversary celebration! Join Aquarium staff and volunteers (and of course all the exhibited marine life) for a three-day birthday celebration, beginning with a cake and ice cream party during public hours on Friday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon is feeding time for the more than 100 species of Santa Monica Bay creatures at the Aquarium as well and visitors are invited to help staff feed the sea stars. The Aquarium will be open to the public from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The celebration will continue throughout the weekend, with special presentations, face painting, exhibits and craft activities with a birthday theme. Weekend hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m.
