More Umami: Burbank (at the edge of Toluca Lake) is the now the home of the 17th Umami Burger to open in just five years. With recent openings in Miami and Oakland and the upcoming mega-locale in Greenwich Village, New York next week, Los Angeles based owner Adam Fleischman is spreading Umami fever throughout the nation.

Although hot dogs are served at some of the eateries, Umami Burbank  is the first to truly embrace the hot dog with its own menu section.  Fittingly, it replaces Papoo’s Hot Dog Show which was a landmark for 62 years.  The exterior bones of the restaurant remain intact, but the interior got a complete redo with tufted booths,  black and white checkered floor and printed damask wall paper.  The hot dog menu features eight different dogs (including a corn dog!) with ingredients such as truffle cheese,  beer cheddar cheese, stringed onions, bbq sauce and more.  The Burbank special burger is the Show Burger with Hak’s BBQ sauce, beer cheddar cheese, a giant onion ring and bacon lardons. There’s also a selection of salads (love the truffled beet salad), sides (smashed potatoes are a must), a beer/wine menu, plus some very fun soda drinks. If red meat isn’t your thing, then try the Ahi Tuna Burger, Green Bird (turkey) or the Earth Burger (veggie). You can go meatless or bunless too. Just ask.

Umami Burbank is situated on a burger-centric corner across from Mo’s and caddy corner to Bob’s Big Boy — and across from the Falcon Theater if you want to catch a play too. 4300 Riverside Drive, Burbank, 818.433.3680. Open daily 11 a.m.-midnight.

Ventura (the city) based Prime Steakhouse just opened its second location in Agoura in the former Sunset Room space which spans 7000 square feet. They are celebrating with  an opening party tonight (July 22) with champagne, appetizers and live music on the outside patio followed by a three-course dinner. $30 per person. Reservations only (818)292-5111.  The menu at both locations includes three sizes of prime rib, top sirloin, lamb, filet mignon, chicken and seafood.  Happy Hour is extensive with $6 martinis, well drinks, beer, wine and a food menu that includes sirloin, chicken, salmon and ahi salads; mussels; tacos, chile rellanos, nachos and a sandwich made with prime rib; tuna tartare, mac n’ cheese; quesadilla; kobe beef burger and more. 29020 Agoura Rd., Agoura Hills, (805) 652-1055
