Neighbors celebrate in Studio City’s Colfax Meadows
The neighborhood of Colfax Meadows in Studio City showed up in force the morning of July 4 with nearly 800 people participating in its annual parade and block party on Acama Street.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) led the parade, followed by two Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) fire trucks. Adults and children alike got a tour of the trucks and a number of people took a ride inside during the parade, which circled a few blocks. Holiday revelers decorated bikes, wagons, and even their pets, in patriotic colors, to celebrate the day.
Hot dogs, beverages and sno-cones were donated by local residents. Children competed in hula hoop and dance contests, as well as a three legged relay, while an LAPD helicopter performed a circular “flyover” which garnered a large round of applause.
The community came out again in the evening with hundreds of people lining the streets of Colfax and Moorpark to watch the fireworks extravaganza blasting out of CBS Studio Center, where hundreds more celebrated from inside the studio and on a parking rooftop at the 11th Annual Fireworks Celebration.
