Who said there is no winter in Los Angeles? Grab your mittens, hats, scarves and wooly socks, and head on out to one of these outdoor ice rinks. From Downtown to Westwood, Santa Monica and the Valley, there’s a winter wonderland waiting for you. We can pretend, can’t we?

The first annual winter wonderland has hit the San Fernando Valley’ s Westfield Promenade in Woodland Hills. The outdoor ice rink features over 7000 square feet of real ice, offering daily recreational ice skating along with special events, skating exhibitions and shows, birthday parties, holiday activities, skating lessons, date nights and more throughout the duration of the holiday season– February 21, 2010, including holidays. $11-15 includes skates. ICE in Santa Monica

The beach meets the ice in Santa Monica with holiday cheer daily, just two blocks from the Third Street Promenade. The $10 admission includes skate rental. Make it a special holiday evening on Friday December 5 when 94.7 The Wave and Brian McKnight host the official tree lighting ceremony at the Promenade. McKnight and his sons will perform an acoustic set of their favorite holiday songs. McKnight will autograph his newly released CD after his performance. Celebrating its 12th season, Downtown on Ice is the closest thing Los Angeles has to Rockefeller Center. Surrounded by looming skyscrapers, there’s no better way to have fun in the city and a cool way to do it at a low cost. Admission is $6 (+skate rental $2), Scheduled special events include a FREE concert series, a FREE Winter Holiday Festival with FREE Snow Zone, weekend Kid’s Zone interactive entertainment and more. LA Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. LIVE

Yes, there’s more downtown skating and its right across from The Staples Center. This is the first year L.A. Live has opened its skating rink, so rink hop to this 70 by 50 foot wonderland with room for up to 200 skaters. $10 includes skates. Tonight, December 3, marks the grand opening with free performances by LeAnn Rimes, Sheila E. and the E Family and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The evening will also mark the season’s first lighting of the festive holiday lights displayed along the streets throughout the L.A.
