If you are like most (I guess I should say me!), there was a lot of celebrating over the last six weeks! Now the focus if off the high calorie holiday treats and on to choosing a lighter. When it comes to cocktails, I am not going to pretend that the bulk of calories don’t come from the alcohol, but mixing them with juices and sodas can really pack them on.

Ellen Swandiak , know as the the “hip hostess NYC,” sure knows how to throw a party and has awesome tips! She turned me on to a new zero calorie organic flavor infused sparkling water called Sparkling Essence  made by R.W. Knudsen.  It comes in fabulous flavors such as organic lemon, organic blueberry and organic mint. Like Ellen, my favorite is the organic cucumber.

My daughter spent New Years with her grandparents in Arizona and brought back the most amazing grapefruits from their garden so I got busy concocting! I tried mixing it with wine like a spritzer,  and that was great, but the hands down winner was inspired by spa water. If you have not yet given up on your New Years resolution and want to be really good, enjoy this refreshing drink by simply omitting the alcohol!
