Team CrossFit: Fitness, Self-Defense and Nutrition for Everyone

It’s the beginning of a new year, and the perfect time to follow through with those resolutions to lose weight or tone up. Luckily, for valley residents, Team CrossFit is just the place to make this possible. Located in Woodland Hills, on Victory Boulevard, Team CrossFit is a multi-purpose fitness center that offers a variety of challenging workouts unlike your average gym.

Woodland Hills’ Team CrossFit opened in April of 2009 by James Lee, a trainer with longtime experience in the personal training industry. Additionally, Lee has practiced Krav Maga (Israeli self defense) for 12 years, and offers training in this field at Team CrossFit.

“The combination of self defense and fitness is very important. They go hand-in-hand,” says Lee.

According to Lee, the three most significant aspects of Team CrossFit involve: functional fitness, workouts that constantly vary with no specific routine, and finally, practicing these workouts at a full intensity.

“If you don’t push your body, nothing changes,” says Lee. “We do a warm up, skill segment, and then the workout, with an objective to finish as fast as you can.”

In addition to Krav Maga training, and other physically demanding workouts, Team CrossFit proudly offers weightlifting training by Olympic lifting coach Bob Takano.

“He’s one of the very few coaches in the world that can get you to the Olympic’s weightlifting level,” says Lee. “Everyone can benefit.”

As of recently, Team CrossFit also offers the “E.D.I.T. Program” to all members. This is for anyone interested in integrating the latest methods and tools for lifelong health and fitness.

“The E.D.I.T. program is a 4-step program (Evaluate, Design, Implement, and Track) that will always repeat and change at each set milestone to establish new goals and higher achievements,” says Lee.

Through a process of evaluating one’s body, fitness, and nutrition, Team CrossFit will design a program and specific goal relevent to each individual’s assessment. The methods and tools involved in this program include: the CrossFit strength and conditioning program, Krav Maga self defense, Paleo Plan weekly meal plan and shopping list (www.paleoplan.com), and Team CrossFit coaching and consulting.

Overall, Team CrossFit provides a true sense of community, as members are offered a variety of workshops and challenges to tackle together.

“What I love the most is seeing these people empowered, and gaining confidence,” says Lee. “Our fitness program is addicting, and most everyone keeps coming back for more.”

As far as pricing goes, starting February 1st it is $150 a month with a one year commitment to Team CrossFit, and $175 a month for month-to-month commitments.
