Celebrate Springtime and Easter in the San Fernando Valley (and a little beyond)

It’s that time of year for bunnies, egg hunts, flowers and brunching. Here’s a mix of events (including dogs) for celebrating Springtime and Easter.  And beware of rabbit holes. You never know what can happen!

BEATRIX POTTER IN THE GARDEN: EASTER AT THE ARBORETUM

Mischief in Mr. McGregor’s Garden

The day’s activities for children ages 10 and younger include art and gardening activities, botanic demonstrations, entertainment, games, face painting, photo opportunities, and live animals from the Beatrix Potter stories.  Event entry fees are $5.00 per child for members and $10.00 per child for non-members. Brunch with Peter Rabbit

Relax on the Peacock Café patio, enjoy a buffet brunch featuring: omelets to order, waffle bar,baked Virginia ham, fresh fruit & crudités, assorted salads, specialty muffins & breads, homemade coconut cake & much more. Brunch purchase includes special children’s activities: an opportunity to have photos taken with Peter Rabbit and planting a miniature English garden to take home $ 25 per adult, $15 per child, ages 10 and younger For reservations, call 626.446.2248. EGG-CELLENT MAGNOLIA BICYCLE TOUR AND TREASURE HUNT IN BURBANK

Attention kids and adults! Hop on your bike and take a spin through Burbank’s Magnolia Park neighborhood on Saturday, April 3 from 3pm to 7pm. The event is free and open to the public.

When riders register at Chandler Bikeway and California Street, they will receive an “egg-cellent gift” and treasure map filled with tempting treats. They will also be able to participate in a bicycle and helmet decorating contest, enjoy free bicycle tune-ups courtesy of the Burbank Recycle Center, learn road safety tips from Burbank Bike, join in free arts and crafts activities, and check out other community based organizations.

Once riders complete their self-guided treasure hunt and get stamped at 10 locations, they will be automatically entered to win incredible grand prizes from Magnolia Park merchants (drawing at 7:00 P.M. – winners need not be present to win).

Bring your own basket for a free egg hunt and petting zoo
. Candy, prizes, bunny hop games and fun crafts. Everyone is a winner!

DESCANSO GARDENS BRUNCH AND EGG HUNT

Celebrate Easter at Descanso Gardens dining amongst the flowers on Saturday and Sunday, April 3 and 4. Menu choices (from the Patina Group)  include a silver dollar pancake bar, Yuzu Caesar salad, hand-carved applewood smoked ham and doughnut bread pudding. Seatings are available at 10:30 a.m. and noon Saturday; and 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 on Sunday. All children under 12 years old will receive an Easter basket and get to participate in an egg hunt. These are the only egg hunts at Descanso this year.
 
The cost for Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt: $42 members, $50 general public; $20 for children ages 4-12. Free for children 3 and younger. Reservations with a credit card are required  (818) 790-3663. EASTER EGG HUNT AT LOS ENCINOS STATE HISTORIC PARK IN ENCINO

It’s an historical Easter  with music, games and living history. Admission is FREE. Easter Egg Hunts are for the following age groups— Toddlers to Age 2: 1:30 Ages 3 & 4: 2:00 Ages 5-7: 2:30 Bring your own baskets. Los Encinos State Historic Park. BIG BUNNY’S SPRING FLING AT THE LA ZOO

The bunnies are hopping at the Zoo on April 2, 3 and 4. Meet Bugs Bunny and see live bunnies in the egg patch. Kids can make their very own bunny ears, explore the real world of rabbits at the Bunny Discovery Zone, get their face painted and plant  carrot seeds. Entertainment will be provided by Dan Crow and a Spring Fling puppet show by Jim Gamble Puppet Productions.

Due to L.A. Zoo parking lot construction, parking may be limited during this event. The L.A. Zoo encourages patrons to take public transportation to the Zoo and to arrive early. Metro’s number 96 bus will drop visitors off at the Zoo. Those who take Metro to the Zoo should be sure to bring their ticket because their Metro ticket will save adults $3 and kids $2 on the price of admission. DOGGIE EASTER EGG HUNT IN STUDIO CITY

You and your four-legged best friend can celebrate Easter Sunday with an egg hunt made just for your furry friend — each egg has a great prize inside. Win pet food, toys, gift certificates and more. Celebrity guests include: Linda Blair (World Heart Foundation), Travis and Presley (Greatest American Dog Winners) and of course, Rusty, Studio City’s Top Dog.The Egg Hunt area is fenced in and only one pet at a time will be let in for safety reasons, unless from same home. VAN NUYS-SHERMAN OAKS PARK SPRING FLING
