As I drove down Ventura Blvd last weekend I noticed a familiar logo on a storefront window peeking out through some trees. I parked to check it out — Lululemon Athletica has arrived in Sherman Oaks. Well, to be exact — a Lululemon showroom, or rather a pop-up of sorts, that opened September 10 as a way to check out the local market and become familiar with the community before opening a larger store.

Open Thursday through Saturday only, it is situated next door to Rising Lotus Yoga, in the space formerly occupied by Lavender Beauty. This Lululemon is limited in its selection, but carries solid choices of Lululemon basics — think “best of” — as well as mats and other gear. Also, with a dedication to community, all Lululemon stores offer special events and free exercise classes. Check the schedule on the website for complimentary yoga and fitness classes on site.

Known as “yoga inspired” athletic wear for men and women, Lululemon is a wildly popular exercise clothing company with a manifesto of beliefs which they instill in their employees – “Friends are more important than money,” “Stress is related to 99% of all illnesses;” “Successful people replace the words ‘wish,’ ‘should’ and ‘try ‘ with “I will.” There are over 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada, including local stores in Calabasas, Glendale, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Brentwood.
