The 51st Annual LA County Holiday Celebration this Friday (FREE!)

Tia Carrere and Fred Willard are hosting the 51st Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration, on Friday, December 24 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center. This year’s theme of the Emmy nominated show  is “Childhood Holiday Memories.”

Seasonal entertainment on the Music Center Plaza starts at 12:30 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Admission to Holiday Celebration, which features 24 groups totaling nearly 800 performers, is FREE. 

 Also, a first this year are short film screenings.  This event will be broadcast live on both KCET and KPFK 90.7 FM, and streamed live at Wristbands, available on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, will be required for entry. Wristbands will be limited to one per person.

Among the 24 groups performing (800 performers), highlights include: students from Gabriella Axelrad Education Foundation performing as toy soldiers in a Dixieland-style tap dance performance; Mr. Vallenato playing  Columbian Folk Accordion music; Jung Im Lee Korean Dance Academy performing  “One Drum Dance;” traditional holiday songs  sung by current and former LAUSD music teachers in the LACESMA Women’s Chorale; Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers who will sing the work of African-American composers; Halau O Lilinoe performing an ancient style of hula; the Elliot Deutsch Big Band entertains with swing versions of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” and “The Christmas Song.” Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles sings Kenny Loggins’ “Celebrate Me Home” and the Colburn Children’s Choir and the Young Men’s Chorus mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles with Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” and a lullaby by Lennon-McCartney.
