Spring is here  and that means it’s the perfect time for having a tea party for a special celebration.  Studio City’s The Bistro Garden is now offering a new concept — “Tea Party at the Garden” for special events—and you can stay local.

“Teas are back, ”says Bistro Garden owner Carolyn Niklas Pappas. “They are perfect for birthdays, graduation parties, baby showers, bridal showers, Sweet 16s and more. They are less formal and great fun and the cost of a Tea Party is less than a luncheon.” Pappas believes that in this economy, the Tea Party concept will provide a viable option for an interesting event.

Presented in the Bistro’s private Fireside Room with its grand crystal chandeliers, European ambiance and hand painted walls, Pappas says that the Tea Party is “traditional but less formal than a High Tea…it’s our version of what a modern day tea party should look like, but with all the same sweet and savory offerings.”

Tiered glass trays are filled with three layers of house made sweets including Lemon Squares, an assortment of house made Mini-Scones, Miniature Cupcakes and house made Chocolate Brownies.

Tea Party sandwiches, served on platters, include Curried Chicken Salad; Crispy Chicken with Buffalo Mozzarella, Tomatoes and fresh basil; Traditional Tuna Salad; Burrata Cheese with Tomato, Baby Arugula and Olive Tapenade; Smoked Salmon with Herbed Cream Cheese and Diced Red Onion; Traditional Cucumber with Herbed Cream Cheese and Dill and Croque Monsieur.

A selection of teas is placed on the table and each guest has an individual tea pot with personal honey jars, mini pitchers of curdled cream and a selection of sugars.

The Tea service should be ordered two days in advance and is available for parties of 10 during the week and parties of 30 or more on Saturday and Sunday. The cost of the Tea Party starts at $32 per person. Champagnes and wines are ordered individually. Tax and gratuity are not included in the price.

I love high tea–such an elegant concept especially for an Anglophile. Carolyn Pappas used to be my neighbor and created the best chocolate souffle ever, so I’m sure her tea party would be equally delicious. Thanks so much for letting us all know.

I was really excited about this until I saw that this is a special event thing that requires pre-booking and a (rather high) minimum number of guests. I hope they will consider offering something like this to the general public.
