Outdoor Cinema Food Fest: The  Outdoor Cinema Food Fest summer event series kicks off this Saturday with a screening of “Something About Mary.” This series features gourmet food trucks and free movies every Saturday this summer through Labor Day Weekend and six different Los Angeles locations. Movies are presented on a 52 foot screen with 15,000 watts of professional JBL sound. Standing three stories tall, it is the largest outdoor movie screen on the west coast. The Outdoor Cinema Food Fest creates the ultimate picnic environment for entertainment and food enthusiasts – no basket required!  Bring your friends, family and even your dog! Opening night food trucks include Nom Nom, Vizzi, Frysmith, Greasy Weiner, Lee’s Philly, Jose O’Malley’s and Lake Street Creamery. Doors open at 5:30pm. Band plays at 6:30 p.m. Movie begins at 8:30 p.m.  Ground Fees $10. Check out the website for venue locations and movies playing through Sept. 3.

The 6th Annual Happy House Poker Tournament and BBQ: Nancy Cartwright, the iconic voice of Bart Simpson and Honorary Mayor of the North Valley, is the host of this annual event at her home in Northridge on Saturday, 1 p.m.— 6 p.m. All proceeds go towards Happy House, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, and the Happy House Good Choices Program. The 22nd Annual Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Music Festival 2011: It’s a full weekend of nonstop entertainment featuring international and award winning Cajun, Creole, Blues and Zydeco music acts, food booths, crafts booths, a kids area featuring bouncers, rock walls, specialty acts, crafts and talent shows. 38th Annual Topanga Days Fair: There will be live music on three stages, food and beverages, clothing, jewelry and art by local artisans and a variety of environmentally conscious products and services. Musical headliners include the Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Mayall, Maggie Mayall, Jim Messina, Stray Cats’ Lee Rocker and Yesterday’s Child. Memorial Day Parade and Festival in Canoga Park: Monday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Along Sherman Way from Owensmouth Ave. to Desoto, Canoga Park.  Watch the Memorial Day Parade and then enjoy a festival with food, music, and and after parade entertainment at Quimby Park in Canoga Park. The Honorary Parade Chair is Councilman Dennis Zine.  Free.

38th Annual Valley Greek Festival: Enjoy a cultural experience for the entire family with live music, dancing, gourmet food, homemade pastries, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, a Greek market, and a variety of shopping boutiques. This admission-free fundraiser is the largest festival of its kind in the area. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 1 p.m. — 9 p.m., St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 9501 Balboa Blvd., Northridge. Second Annual City of Angels Wine Fest: Eat and drink for a cause at the at the Music Center Plaza this Memorial Day. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Los Angeles Foundation, it’s a party by the fountains featuring wine, food, music and a special silent auction. There will be 28 California wineries, plus catering from Patina Restaurant Group eateries: Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse, Café Pinot, Kendall’s Brasserie, Zucca Ristorante and Tina Tacos. Entertainment includes live performances by Ours and the Family Crest. There will also be a silent auction including members of the Downtown Los Angeles Artwalk. Proceeds raised from the event support the Volunteers of America Greater Los Angeles (VOALA) and benefits the renovation and development of VOALA’s Rotary House—a transitional facility in downtown Los Angeles providing shelter, vocational opportunities and hope for more than 1,800 homeless of all ages annually. Kids! Build a Biplane for Free: Kids can build a biplane for free at their local Lowes “Build and Grow Clinic” on Saturday form 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Each participant receives a free apron, goggles, a project-themed patch, and a certification of merit. Registration is a must!
