Chi Dynasty in Studio City is celebrating the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival June 3 to 6 by offering a complimentary Zong Zi for dessert—a glutinous rice ball, with a filling, wrapped in corn leaves. The fillings can be egg, beans, dates, fruits, sweet potato, walnuts, mushrooms, meat, or a combination of them. They are generally steamed. The festival is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, marking the death of Qu Yuan (a minister of the Zhou emperor).  As legend has it, boat races and ceremonial sacrifices of rice were performed each year to symbolize the valiant attempts to rescue Qu Yuan.
