This Weekend: SOTO Opens More Stores, Last Days of Ice Skating, Art Exposure, Summer Opps, Burn Yoga

GRAND OPENING  SHERMAN OAKS AND STUDIO CITY—SOTO Lifestyle and SOTO Boutique : My Daily Find fave clothing and gift stores for trendy, well-priced clothing, accessories, jewelry and home goods continues to grow from Westlake to Studio City.  SOTO Boutique opens today, February 3,  at 13812 Ventura Blvd (at Matilija, across from Sweet Butter) in  Sherman Oaks, replacing Belle Gray, while SOTO Lifestyle opens on Saturday  at 12206 Ventura Blvd (between Vantage and Laurel Grove) in Studio City (replacing SOTO Boutique).  There’s now three SOTO Boutiques (Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Westlake) and three SOTO Lifestyles (Studio City, Woodland Hills, Westlake).  Get a free Nikibiki this weekend at SOTO Boutique with purchase and enjoy refreshments from I Baked It Myself.  Dig into the MDF archives and read about Soto Boutique from 2009  and  Soto Lifestyle from 2010.

Franklin Canyon Movie Magic Hike: Franklin Canyon is an active filming location for movies and TV shows, including such classics as the Andy Griffith Show and Star Trek.  Meet at the Sooky Goldman Nature Center and go on location with naturalist Diane on and easy two hour walk. Saturday, February 4, 10 a.m.-noon. Franklin Canyon Park, 2600 Franklin Canyon Drive (off off Mulholland and Coldwater).

Black History Art Month Opening Reception: Two featured artists will be on hand.  Featured photographer, Gregory Prescott, plus Neneki “Nick” McGee  will paint live during the reception. In addition, NuKola Herndon will perform two sets of musical poetry in the theatre. Scottie Austin will take us into the world of Billie Holiday singing the blues along with jazz guitarist Tim Moran in the lounge area. Saturday, February 4, 7 p.m.-11 p.m., Noho Gallery LA, J.E.T.
