FRIDAY
No Roses Gallery: Come by this Sherman Oaks artisan jewelry boutique for a special wine and artist’s reception tonight from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. with Kit Carson, known as the “Wildest Jewelry Engraver in the West.” His handcrafted sterling silver jewelry is inspired by nature — necklaces, earrings and bracelets incorporate images like dragonflies, bones, ravens, hearts, guitars, skulls, rabbits and cactus mixed with gemstones such as turquoise, sugalite, amethyst, black onyx, cubic zirconia and spiny oyster shell. Carson’s latest jewelry collection, Romantic Rust is a subtle shift in materials. These slightly rugged and subtly naive designs play with powder-coat steel, up-cycled license plates, acrylic paint, gemstones, sterling silver, brass and bronze.
