FRIDAY

Dance Downtown: It’s Samba night with live bands and DJs at the Music Center Plaza. Live out loud, learn different dance styles and join in on Downtown’s only open air dance floor. Every experience level is welcome. 6:30pm – 10:00pm. Music Center Plaza, 135 N. Grand Ave. Los Angeles. 213-972-3660. FREE

FRIDAY-SUNDAY

LA Greek Fest:It’s a Greek extravanganza at this  14th annual event  Friday through Sunday co-hosted by Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. The festival’s Passport to a Grecian Holiday theme allows guests to “celebrate the magic and  enchantment of Greece” . Concession booths will spotlight Greek food specialties  with the dining pleasures of Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Saloniki and other  exotic Hellenic destinations. It’s a weekend of great food, music and dancing -with a special Saturday night performance by Greece’s acclaimed pop star Thanos Petrelis. Saint Sophia Cathedral, 1324 S. Normandie Ave., L.A.

The 16th Annual Original Long Beach Lobster Festival : It’s the largest festival outside of Maine. Lobster dinners include steamed lobsters, melted butter dipping sauce, coleslaw, roll and watermelon. The event will also feature entertainment, art and craft booths and more. Prices range from $13-$15 per person admission (no food included) to $25-$35 (including admission and a lobster dinner). Rainbow Lagoon, 400-403 Shoreline Village Drive, Long Beach.

SATURDAY

Whole Kids at Whole Foods Market Woodland Hills:  Stop by for a  fun-filled family afternoon! Learn back-to-school eating tips , plus  Herb planting, Kid-friendly vendor samples, Organic scavenger hunt, Raffle prizes. Bring a conventional toothbrush and get a FREE RADIUS toothbrush!  11 a.m.-2 p.m.

KCRW Good Food Pie Contest: It’s a celebration of everything pie at KCRW’s 4th Annual Good Food Pie Contest featuring pies baked by both home cooks and professionals . The pies will be judged by some of LA’s best chefs and food writers. Festivities include free pie tasting, apron fashion show, music provided by KCRW DJ Anne Litt and more. Wear an apron and get admission to LACMA free too!  11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. LACMA, 5905 Wilshire Blvd., L.A.

Good Eats Pasadena:  This food fest celebrates local to regional  cuisine. Enjoy food from local restaurants, beer and wine garden, music, chef demos and hands-on activities. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Free. 23 S. Madison Ave., Pasadena

Street Food Cinema:  It’s the first ever outdoor screening of the mega blockbuster hit THE HUNGER GAMES. Enjoy tasty food tucks and live music sponsored by The Viper Room. Share the experience.Dogs welcome. SUNDAY

Once Upon A Canyon Night: TreePeople is bringing back three old time favorites for a “short and sweet” 12th season of live entertainment. This Sunday at 7:30pm watch Billy Valentine & Friends: A Night Of Rhythm & Blues. Experience the  soulful songs of Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke & more. The shows take place in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre in TreePeople’s Coldwater Canyon Park. Tickets: $20-$25.
