PizzaRev is opening its third location in Woodland Hills today (December 5).  In just eight months, this craft-your-own pizza joint also has locations in Northridge (the first) and Studio City.  It’s a fast casual Chipotle-type concept re-imagined for thin crust pizza. Choose from over 30 toppings to place on homemade dough and get your personal custom artisan pizza cooked in under three minutes at 900 degrees. You can craft your own salad too.  The price? Under $8 a pie! 6439 Canoga Ave. (at Vanowen) in Woodland Hills.

9021Pho is opening today  at Westfield Sherman Oaks

Kimmy Tang’s  90210Pho is making a major 818 expansion.  First up, Westfield Sherman Oaks opens today in the old CPK spot on the first floor. Next up is the Glendale Galleria on December 13.  The Beverly Hills based Vietnamese restaurant opened its second location in Westlake last year. This casual service restaurant is fully equipped with an exhibition kitchen for customers to see their food prepared with fresh herbs taken directly from the 9021Pho Vegetation Wall in the restaurant.  While the key term at the moment is “farm to table” restaurants, 9021Pho is “wall to table” with its vegetarian wall offering fresh vegetables and herbs for cooking, as well as for its aroma.  Tang’s menu is Vietnamese with a European and California twist, providing for healthy choices.

Sugarfish is scheduled to open in the Calabasas Commons in April 2013.  Photo: Karen Young

Sugarfish is continuing its expansion to the Calabasas Commons with the opening slated for April. This is the second in the 818 (Studio City opened last spring) and the sixth location for this sushi concept by Chef Kazunomi Nozawa. Other locations are in Brentwood, Santa Monica, Downtown Los Angeles and Marina Del Rey.  Diners choose from three core menus called Trust Me, a  takeoff from the traditional Japanese omakase. There are no visible sushi chefs behind a sushi bar as everything is quickly made in the kitchen.  Also, there’s no fancy rolls — just pure sushi nigiri and limited sashimi– and strict suggestions that you shouldn’t dip anything in soy sauce if there is already a sauce.

Breakfast is served all day at Nesmon Cafe for $8.95-$9.95.

Nesmon Cafe in Sherman Oaks is serving up a new all day breakfast.  Egg dishes are accompanied by salad, as well as a  plate filled with extras —  baguette, butter, jam, feta cheese, cornichons and creme fraiche.  They are also doing “dinner to go” straight from the regular menu — or order from the catering menu (just ask) with 24 hours notice.  This Parisian style cafe is also available for private parties and teas.  Don’t miss the marketplace boutique with French food, textiles, antique accessories, candles, and much more. Need a gift basket? They’ll design it and wrap it custom for your needs.
