5th Annual No Pants Metro Ride: Yes, you read that correctly. Get ready to get ‘cheeky’ and make a scene. This event was started in New York 12 years ago and now is happening in 60 cities around the world on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It’s Improve Everywhere’s universal mission to get people a little off their mark with a celebration of pranks and silliness. In Los Angeles, Guerilla Improv has taken it over. It’s $5 for a Metro Day Pass if you have a TAP card ($6 if you need to purchase a TAP card and the Day Pass). It’s a two part day. Part One of the mission will be Metro rides that will travel from both ends of the Gold Line in Pasadena and East Los Angeles, from the Red Line in North Hollywood, from the Purple Line in Koreatown, and from the Expo Line in Culver City to Union Station. Ride captains will begin gathering at their respective stations at 1 p.m, and they’ll have you at Union Station at or before 2 p.m. for part two. You are welcome to start at whichever station is most convenient to you. You’ll meet up with “agents”who will instruct you about how to proceed. Vallley-ites get on the Lankershim Red Line station at 1 p.m. Remember to bring your pants in a bag, just in case.
63rd Annual Campo de Cahuenga Celebration: Step back in time to January 1847 with this free event on Sunday, January 13 from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m . Watch the historic re-enactors, fiesta dancers, the firing of a Howitzer cannon, tour the archeological dig, visit the gift shop. There’s also complimentary refreshments and a $2 taco bar. This year celebrates the 166th anniversary of the signing. The Articles of Capitulation ended the hostilities of the Mexican War in upper California. The historic Campo de Cahuenga is located at 3919 Lankershim Blvd. next to the MTA Universal Red Line station. Parking is free.
