Last week we reported that Osteria Coppola in Sherman Oaks has closed. Now, a new eatery, On the Thirty, has already leased the premises with a beer and wine license. Sounds like a sports bar, but no confirmation yet. We’ll keep you posted.

The Umami empire has started construction on another Umami Burger in Toluca Lake in the former Papoos Hot Dog Show that closed in August 2011 after 62 years in business. Located across from the landmark Bob’s Big Boy, Papoos ‘structure also has historical merit. The iconic building will remain standing with a good part of the signage and all. In homage to Papoos, Umami will be serving up hot dogs in addition to burgers and milkshakes made from LA Creamery artisan ice cream.
Hugo’s Tacos just opened its third stand in Woodland Hills, joining Studio City and Atwater Village. Every Wednesday is “Burrito Night” at all locations with burritos half off from 7 to 10 p.m. if you say the secret word for February — “sweetheart.” Don’t miss the Breakfast Burrito Happy Hour from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Monday through Friday when burritos are only $3. It’s open from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily. We previously reported that Pedaler’s Fork in Calabasas would open February 4, but according to marketing director Gideon Kleinman that date has been moved to the beginning of March. In the meantime, check out this video from the Executive Chef Dan Murray. This farm-to-table restaurant will cater to cyclers as well as gourmands and coffee drinkers (they’ve got Ten-Speed Coffee).
