If you are having a viewing party this weekend for the 85th Academy Awards you might want to have some fun celebratory cocktails that will add a special kick to your awards party.  The ceremony is scheduled for February 24 starting at 5:30 p.m.  (PT)  in Hollywood with host Seth MacFarland.  ABC’s Red Carpet coverage starts at 4 p.m. E! Entertainment Live from the Red Carpet with Ryan Seacrest starts at 1:30 p.m.

Champagne is fun, but can be somewhat redundant, so here are a couple  cocktails worthy of an Oscar celebration.  To add to the festivities you can rim your glasses with cocktail  sugar available at Bev Mo or get gold dust sugar online at Global Sugar Art.

The Golden Bellini Cocktail Recipe

1 ounce Courvoisier Gold

1 ounce Peachtree Schnapps

Champagne or Cava or Prosecco

Shake the Courvouisier and Peachtree with ice and strain into two chilled flutes, and then top with champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Spiced Rose-Pomegranate Spritzer

Pinch of cardamom

Pinch of ground star anise

1-teaspoon rose water

2 ounces pomegranate liqueur

2 ounces Vodka

Soda water

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the cardamom, star anise, rose water, pomegranate liqueur and vodka. Shake well, then strain into two ice-filled highball glasses. Top with soda water.
