As I wander around the markets I am beginning to see sure signs that spring is not so far away. I long for the light and pretty tastes that I associate with this time of the year. Blood oranges are among the most abundant fruit. Since the orange tree can simultaneously produce flowers, fruit, and foliage, these succulent fruits have long been associated with fertility and great wealth. I like this cocktail because it serves a crowd, is ever so tasty — and just so stunning to look at. Cheers!
Jeweled Crimson Cocktail
3 cups fresh blood orange juice
½ cup fresh limejuice
2 cups gin
2 cups mineral water
Pour the juices into a pretty pitcher or punch bowl. Then pour in the gin and top off with the soda. Garnish with berries, blood orange slices, lime slices and edible flowers. Makes about 8- 10 drinks.
