Earlier this week I was getting a mani/pedi and I got to talking to another client, Stella Angelova, the multi-talented gymnast and choreographer who is owns her own couture design company. As we were being pampered we started chatting and eventually started talking food and cocktails. Stella had just returned from 4 months in Bulgaria and she shared with me the biggest summer cocktail in Europe.
Campari is an alcoholic liqueur, considered an aperitif. It is the infusion of herbs and fruit in alcohol and water. It is a bitters characterized by its dark red color. It is a perfect mix with citrus and the bubbles of the sparkling water.
Stella stresses the importance of using freshly squeezed orange juice and I love the look of the oranges creeping up the glass. Enjoy this light refreshing cocktail on these scorching summer days! Cheers!
Stella’s Campari Orange Spritzer
For each cocktail you will need:
6 ice cubes
1/2 cup Campari
1/2 cup Freshly squeezed orange juice
1/2 cup of sparkling water
In a large highball glass squeeze the orange juice and muddle or smooch the oranges to the bottom. Add the ice and mix to create the oranges to go up the side of the glass. Add the Compari and finish with the sparkling water!
