Downtown Burbank’s 9th season of Come Out & Dance kicks off on Thursday, July 5 with concert on the AMC Walkway at San Fernando Boulevard and Palm Avenue.  Dance fans can sharpen their moves with free lessons by skilled instructors Francisco and Stacey of the California Ballroom Teachers Academy starting at 6:00 P.M.

Then at 7:00 P.M. everybody gets footloose with live music from Southern California’s most danceable swing and salsa bands.  Whether fans of lindy or boogaloo, rumba or cumbia, Come Out & Dance is a dance lover’s dream come true!

July’s Rockin’ Rhythms

July 5 – Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries

Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries have been one of the country\\\’s premier 1950\\\’s-1960\\\’s rock and roll shows, and are now celebrating their 40th Anniversary Tour. Their high voltage performances featuring Motown, British Invasion, doo-wop, rockabilly and surf have been enjoyed by audiences all over the world.

July 12 – Cold Duck

In 1969, trumpet player / vocalist Jose Cuadra assembled a group of musicians to form an eight-piece band known today as Cold Duck. They\\\’ve been rocking ever since as a premier live act with excellent musicianship and groovin\\\’ rhythms.

July 19 – Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums featuring Miss Carmen Getit

Steve Lucky and his band bring an intense energy and personal magnetism to the stage with highly danceable vintage jazz, rhythm & blues and swing. Based in San Francisco, the Rhumba Bums have delighted audiences around the world including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Lincoln Center in Manhattan and as the house band at the Derby in Hollywood.

 July 26 – The Wiseguys Big Band Machine

From swing to swank, The Wiseguys Big Band Machine is an eighteen-piece ensemble featuring a screamin\\\’ horn line, talented vocalists, exciting soloists and a roarin\\\’ rhythm section that will have you shouting for more!

August’s Sizzlin’ Salsa

August 2 – Orquesta Charangoa

Led by flutist Fay Roberts, Orquesta Charangoa plays a refined mix of Cuban salsa called charanga, focusing on flute, violin, percussion and vocals. The band’s repertoire includes salsa, mambo, cha-cha-cha, cumbia, meringue and montunos — all for your dancing pleasure.

August 9 – Son Mayor

Son Mayor is one of the most popular Latin bands in L.A. Their vintage and contemporary Cuban sound captivates music lovers, and fills the souls of those who love to dance. This exhilarating band has performed at premier venues throughout southern California, including the Playboy Jazz Festival and the Hollywood Bowl.

August 16 – La Sirena y Orquesta Mar De Ashé

Led by vocalist, composer and arranger La Sirena, Orquesta Mar de Ashé combines their trademark \\\”vozes en armonia\\\” (voices in harmony) with electrifying big brass, to present a delicious eclectic variety of danceable salsa, merengue, cha-cha-cha, cumbia, bachata, and latin jazz.

August 23 – Ronnie Gutierrez Band featuring Leslie Paula

A versatile and talented percussionist, Gutierrez has performed on The Tonight Show and tours regularly with Dave Koz. His performances are an unforgettable night of Cuban, Puerto Rican and Brazilian beats mixing treasured classics with breath-taking originals. Leslie Paula\\\’s soaring range and sultry, sexy sounds have landed her center stage at major gigs worldwide.

August 30 – Louie Cruz Beltran

Fresh from the Hollywood Bowl, Louie Cruz Beltran and his orchestra will perform an extensive repertoire of music from Brazilian and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Louie blends R & B, salsa, reggae and jazz into a stimulating show which draws the audience to their feet and compels them to remain there throughout the evening.
