Join the Sisterhood of Kehillat Ma’arav (KM) for a fun-filled fundraiser with proceeds benefiting Hope Cottage, a transitional housing facility for victims of domestic violence. The 12 apartments in Hope Cottage, a program of JFSLA’s Family Violence Project, are in newly renovated and donations are needed to help furnish the kitchens. The facility will house approximately 50 residents at a time for nine months.
Admission to the fundraiser is at least one new essential cooking or kitchen item for Hope Cottage plus a $20 cash donation. Included are bingo, light refreshments, and a small contribution to the Family Violence Project.
According to Lori Mendez, co-president of KM Sisterhood,“The women in our group are compelled to help the victims of domestic violence and give these women and their children an opportunity to rebuild their lives. By each of us donating a set of dishes, glassware, pots and pans—basically anything from cooking utensils to a toaster oven—we can help them get back on their feet.”

About KM Sisterhood
The Sisterhood of Kehillat Ma’arav was formed in May 2010 and is affiliated with the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. The mission of the Sisterhood is to provide a fun and vibrant environment for its members; support the congregation, its youth, and religious school; enhance personal growth, Jewish involvement and sense of community; sponsor programs of joint interest with other Kehillat Ma’arav committees; and promote Conservative/Masorti Judaism in the home, synagogue and community. Annual membership dues are $36 for KM members and $54 for non-members. Programs are held monthly.
